This is one of my favourite logo projects. Steinbach Minor Baseball used to be known as the Steinbach Sox. They used a very outdated logo and it was time for a change. I played minor baseball for 11 years, so I wore the Sox uniform. I took it upon myself to present a change for the association. After months of brainstorming, and many logo options later, we settled on the name Pioneers, and the interlocking S and Wheat logo. Steinbach was built by the Mennonites who came to Canada, and we have a weekend in summer called Pioneer Days, so the name "Pioneers" just made sense with the history of the city. The blue colour unites the other sports teams within Steinbach, with both the Steinbach Millers minor hockey and the MJHL's Steinbach Pistons wearing blue. Similar to what Pittsburgh and other cities do with their sports teams wearing the same colour scheme. Blue is just what Steinbach wears. |
